Outreach
Rock Church Food Pantry
The deacons of Rock currently stock the kitchen of the manse with food and other household supplies. Anyone who is in need from the community may come to receive food from this mission. The food pantry is open whenever someone is in the building (always Monday and Tuesday, other days in the afternoon, or by appointment.) We are proud to have helped a large number of people in the past few years with this outreach.
Christian Community Mission (CCM)
The CCM Is an organization of churches located in the Fair Hill Area of Elkton. This group meets to discuss and provide areas of outreach as well as community involvement and worship. The CCM provides funds to people in our area who may be experiencing financial difficulty including inability to pay rent, electricity, water or heat. The CCM also helps out in other ways that seem appropriate to the gathered group. Currently the CCM includes Cherry Hill UMC, Baldwin UMC, Leeds UMC, Moore's Chapel UMC, Union UMC, St. John's UMC and Rock Presbyterian. Funds for the mission are gathered at our community worship services and distributed with approval from the participating clergy. To apply for funds, please contact Rev. Stephanie
The CCM is proud to announce a new scholarship program for students. If you are attending or planning on attending an institution of higher learning, have financial need, and attend one of the member churches, please fill out the Scholarship Application.
Meeting Ground
Rock Church has a long standing relationship with Meeting Ground, a local network of outreach programs and shelters. We hosted several weeks of a Rotating Winter Shelter for homeless persons through Meeting Ground, have helped out at Clairvaux Farm, The Wayfarer's House, and the Settlement House with various service projects and meals. We are proud to support this faithful group through prayer, service, and finances. To learn more about meeting ground see

Community Kitchen
One regular outreach program that Rock participates in is the Community Kitchen. 2-3 times a year we gather up our resources and serve a lunch to anyone who wants it at Elkton Presbyterian Church. This program feeds 100+ people every Friday afternoon and is a wonderful time for all of God's people to sit at table together.
One Great Hour of Sharing
Rock works hard at the annual One Great Hour of Sharing Campaign. Every year during the season of Lent we focus our time and energy on learning about the standard of living in other countries and give of ourselves to help with education, clean water, health and other issues. We take this time to sacrifice of ourselves in order to make the lives of those less fortunate a little better.
Fundraising Service Policy
We have been blessed to have talented fundraisers in our congregation at Rock, but we are aware of God's plan of tithing. Therefore, whatever monies we gather as a result of fundraising we tithe to a service organization or charity in our community.
30 Hour Famine
Youth of Rock Church have spent many February nights without food in order to raise money and awareness for the children who die every day of starvation and malnutrition. Teens study scripture, pray, and fast to have a small taste of what life without food might be like. During the Famine the teens participate in a service activity that gives back to the community and at the end of a long 30 hours the fast is broken with a feast!
Clairvaux Meal Outreach
Beginning in the Fall of 2008, members of Rock will sign up to provide a meal one Sunday a month to the residents of Clairvaux Farm. The farm is a family oriented shelter in Earlville, Cecil County.
CROP Walk
Rock Church participates in the annual Church World Service CROP walk to raise money to end hunger at home and abroad.
One Great Hour of Sharing
During the season of Lent, Rock Church raises money to send to the special offering that reaches out for health, medical and disaster needs across the globe. Last year our focus was on the power of water. Members were asked to give up all beverages other than water for lent and donate the money they would have spent to the cause of building wells in Africa. We doubled our usual giving by this project and each one of us who participated was strengthened by the opportunity to sacrifice.
